Crafting a sustainable jewelry business with Lindsay Walker

Hey Friends,

I wanted to share a new interview I did with Lindsay Walker of Walker Jewelry.

We talked about her journey becoming a jewelry designer, how she imbues her handmade business with her personal values and what it means to be part of a creative community. You can read the whole interview here.

I don't think it's fulfilling to just follow trends or aesthetics or money. Values are going to keep you going when it’s really tough.

It’s easy to say the environment is important to you, but the steps Lindsay takes to have a sustainable business, even if it means making less money, are impressive. Not just using eco-friendly packaging, but the labor-intensive process of reworking old jewelry in order to reduce waste.

It’s pretty amazing what she’s been able to build from scratch, without taking out any loans. Her loyal customers keep coming back.

What’s really special about a business like this is the community. I've made people's engagement rings and they've come back and made their own wedding rings. Then I'm making anniversary presents and push presents.

I first met Lindsay in 2015. Since then, she’s gone full-time in her business making original designs, teaching workshops, and creating custom pieces (including several of my friends’ engagement rings!)
